HEDGING
Buxus sempervirens "Suffruticosa" (Dwarf Box)
Type: Slower-Growing (annual growth rate 2", 5cm)
Dwarf box, pictured left, is traditionally used for low hedges, up to 18"
(50cm) in height. We recommend an optimal spacing of 7-8" (17-20cm) between bushes when planting
a single-width hedge (around 14" (35cm) wide when mature).
It is unusual to find dwarf box balls in these sizes as the faster growing common box is used for
speed. These plants hold a ball shape really well and need very little trimming. The larger plants
are at least 12 years old. They make wonderful "punctuation marks" in a dwarf box hedging scheme
or they will be happy in containers.
